Sunday Dinner

We had Brother Joel, Miss Pam, and the kids over for lunch Sunday. It was the first of our "stepping out" campaign and we really enjoyed having them over. We totally forgot to get any pictures unfortunately, but we had a lot of fun, and I'm sure they did too. Poor Joel had to go take a nap around 3 cause he ate WAY too much food. I'm just glad it all cooked right. I'm quite the perfectionist in the kitchen! That's why I rarely cook... by the time we sit down to eat, everyone is miserable. :) Except me of course, hehe

But here are some pictures I'm sure you will enjoy. These are from the Memorial Day Cookout at Amy and Brian's House:

Humming Birds & Gypsy Moths

We hung a 2nd Humming Bird feeder out the living room window, and let me tell you. These little buggers KNOW what's going on. The male one seems to do circles around the house as I try to get his picture. He would run from the front feeder to the back, almost faster than I could turn and shoot his picture.. almost :)

I Finally Caught Him!

I think this is his mate.
Rebecca watched the girls yesterday, and made a friend while sunning outside.

We had Lunch at Ken and Tammy's for Father's Day
Ken brought the HAM
We thought you was a Horney Toad!

Abbie glared at me though the bottle.. I got this picture a bit late, but it was downright scary

Do NOT Seek the Treasure!

Naomi takes after her daddy. She's so photogenic!

If you only knew! I think this angel's name was Lucifer in another life. - "She's da Debil mama"

These boys definitely ain't miscegenated. They're ALL home-grown.

The TRUE paders familias

I got JUST what I wanted for Father's Day :)

F.B.I.

A much anticipated new singing group in our church will (God willing) be singing Sunday morning. We've practiced hard for a few weeks, and I'm confident that we will blend well together. We haven't thought of a name (officially), but as Preacher likes to use the acronym F.B.I. (Fundamental Baptist Investigators) we tossed around the same as Faith Baptist Inspirations :)

I know it sounds a bit pretentious, but hopefully it won't stick, heh.

On a more serious note, the strain on my vocal cords is a bit more than usual. I've been given the high tenor part, and if I knew of a good replacement for myself I'm sure I would have suggested it. God has given me a gift, and I'm not scared to use it for His glory. This part quite literally stretches me to my limits.

I prayed hard about this when we first started practicing, and I believe The Lord's will is in it. This isn't as serious as you may think, but I do find myself worrying that I will strain my voice too far. I'm not concerned about how we look or sound (it's actually quite funny at times as it takes lots of facial expressions to hit those high notes.) Just pray that God will keep his hand on my voice while I sing. So if we look funny trying to make all this work, laugh with us. And pray for us.

Thanks

Happy Birthday Ronn

Sunday was Ronn's birthday, and we had lunch at Mom & Ronn's house. Ronn makes turning 75 look easy!(I mean 59)
Ronn is so old that Naomi had to help him blow out the candles.

Naomi licked all the frosting off the candles.

Yup! She's definitely a Papa's Girl
Naomi gave Ronn a back scratch'in
We retired to the garage to surprise Ronn with his birthday present.

Woohoo! A Swing!
I had to teach Ken how to use NON-power tools without losing fingers!

Woah.. who spiked my beer?!?!(No it's not)
Tammy and I broke the couch!(Yes we did)

Now tell me this doesn't look like Archie and Edith Bunker??

Post Turtle

While suturing a cut on the hand of a 75 year old Texas rancher, whose hand was caught in a gate while working cattle, the doctor struck up a conversation with the old man. Eventually the topic got around to Obama and his bid to be our President.

The old rancher said, "Well, ya know, Obama is a 'post turtle'."

Not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked him what a 'post turtle' was.

The old rancher said, "When you're driving down a country road and you come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top. That's a 'Post Turtle' "

The old rancher saw a puzzled look on the doctor's face, so he continued to explain.

"You know he didn't get up there by himself;
He doesn't belong up there;
He doesn't know what to do while he is up there;
and you have to ask yourself what kind of IDIOT put him up there."

Un-Young & Married vs. After High School & Almost Adult Class

I Bought a new camera before we went to Gatlinburg (which I have yet to cypher through the 150 pics I took, but they're coming soon!), so you can see they're a bit clearer and of course larger and take longer to upload... but it's worth it.

We started Saturday after Bus Church, and it was 100ºF in the shade! The guys flipped a coin and chose teams.
Spencer came to learn how to toss the ball

Ken came out like a tiger, Making quick work of these young pups still trying to learn how to swing a bat.

Nathan Strikes Out

Bradley Stuck out

Brandon Strikes Out!

Bro. David struck out

Jonathan Owens made it to 1st base

Jennifer stopped to put her shoes back on.

Yes, Jamie played outfield in Flip Flops

Jonathan here takes it easy on Miss Jennifer

Jennifer takes no junk from the boys! She Clobbered the ball. I think it's still in the river!

Justin's form looks awesome! He gets that from his father.

Yes, Jamie played in Flip Flops

But like a champ, he took his Flip Flops off to run the bases in order to make it fair for those trying to tag him out.

Nathan caught this fly ball for the last out of the game.

Ken caught the final out, leading the Young Married's to win 36 to 7 in overtime! The Young Married won the day, but Troy took it rather well

Caleb watched his dad suffer in the heat

Nathaniel cried, but he would be find after getting a hot dog.
